This design was inspired by a painting of a domed church on an Italian hillside. My client, who was terminally ill, asked me to create the ceiling as a gift for his wife—a vision of peace and beauty to bring home.

I completed the piece before he passed, crafting it from foam, plaster, and custom molding, with airbrushed detail and remote-controlled LED lighting that changes the color of the sky throughout the day. While he was still in the hospital, I sent him a sample light and remote so he could practice changing the sky himself. I was later honored to speak at his funeral, a reminder of how deeply design and art can touch a life.
